The leader in the list of vehicles with the largest range has changed in the electric car market. The title, which until now belonged to Tesla, was taken from it by Lucid Motors, whose president is a former subordinate of Elon Musk.

Lucid Motors has recently joined the group of electric car manufacturers. On Saturday, October 31, the keys were officially handed over to the first owners of the Lucid Air Dream model. Costing 169 thousand. hole. the sedan will be built in a limited series of 520 units.
Why 520? This number symbolizes the car’s range, estimated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at 520 miles (approx. 837 km). The commencement of handing over to the first consumers means that the Lucid Air Dream is now the electric vehicle with the greatest range. The vehicle beats the previous leader, Tesla S, by more than 160 km.
How much a car can travel on a single charge is a key issue for potential owners of electric vehicles. From the moment it appeared Tesla on the market, its vehicles had the most to offer in this area.
Until recently, in the ranking of the top ten electricians in terms of range, the first four places belonged to Tesla. According to EPA estimates, the full battery of the S model offers the ability to travel 651 km on a single charge. The Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 (490 km range) was the car with the longest range so far, which was not Tesla.

Not only the battery
The fact that Lucid was able to stay so significantly ahead of the competition and start delivering cars to customers may be a significant step in the development of the electric car segment. The setting of a new record by the Lucid Air Dream was possible not thanks to a new battery, but thanks to the optimization of the efficiency of the entire vehicle. At least that’s what Peter Rawlinson, president of Lucid Motors, says.
Another difference between the vehicles is the price – Lucid Air Dream is about tens of thousands. hole. more expensive than any Tesla car. However, Lucid Motors plans to start deliveries of cheaper cars as early as 2022.
