The car park at the Lons-le-Saunier hospital has become paid, a choice that does not favor patients

The hospital parking lot has become paying more than an hour of parking for visitors, but also for health workers. A choice that is not in the interest of better patient care.

“All users and professionals can park for one hour for free. After this time, they will have to pay. No free tickets will be issued except for people with reduced mobility. These are the words of the note sent by the safety engineer of the Lons-le-Saunier hospital to the main interested parties, including ambulances. So free the first hour, the rate is therefore € 2 per hour.

“This decision will have an impact the quality of patient care. We will no longer be with them, but we will leave them and go. They will be transferred from one stretcher to another ”, observes Hervé Maraux of the Jussieu ambulances in Champagnole, before continuing:“ It is quite contradictory. The hospital makes us wait because there are no doctors and doctors and at the same time we are asked to pay for this wait. In fact, the ideal would be to leave before parking for an hour, but most of our interventions take longer. “

This professional finds this choice all the more regrettable as the car park was redone a few months ago and worked very well. For the management, the goal is to make the stop more fluid and thus avoid prolonged stops, with the desire to bring the patient back to the hospital center. But this choice is challenging.

An investment of 200,000 eurosat a time when the public hospital collapses on all sides
While the public hospital collapses on all sides, perhaps it was not a priority to invest 200 thousand euros for the installation of automatic barriers. Another problem is free parking, which is increasingly rare in Lons-le-Saunier.

If the doctors have a parking space, from 8:15 am the car park dedicated to Carmel staff fills up quickly. Some are then forced to do so park near the cemetery or elsewhere in Lons-le-Saunier, already saturated. It quickly becomes complicated for nurses, health workers, some of whom are from Bourg-en-Bresse.

It is not uncommon to see the staff car park in Cours Sully, at the address 15 minutes on foot of the hospital. Knowing that these professionals work between 6am and 9pm, this also impacts local residents. No studies have been conducted to know the number of people affected.
By comparison, Besançon hospital parking is free for the first two hours.
