UNITED STATES – Like Jimmy Fallon, many American personalities strongly condemned the pro-Trump protests in Washington on Wednesday, January 6. Demonstrators violently broke into the Capitol building, an event during or on the sidelines of which four people were killed and 22 were injured.
Several personalities of American entertainment reacted on Twitter denouncing among other things the responsibility of Donald Trump and the need for his rapid dismissal.
“It’s not patriotism”
At the start of his show, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon gave a strong speech about the uprisings and the storming of the Capitol. “What happened today was not patriotism but terrorism ” he said. Fallon notably referred to “Make America Great Again” fanatics who halted the constituency certification process Wednesday afternoon.
At the end of the evening, the presenter added that it was difficult to broadcast an entertainment program while at the same time people were killing each other. He said, however, that it is in these “precise moments that we need each other the most”. Jimmy Fallon is not the only one to have noted the horror of these demonstrations.

A strong mobilization of the world of cinema
Chris Evans, the actor of “Captain America” remained “speechless” to him by this when others called for the immediate establishment of an impeachment procedure like the actor Linden Ashby notably known for his role of Johnny Cage in “Mortal Kombat” in 1995 or the actress Alyssa Milano.
Director James Gunn highlighted Trump’s slowness and inaction in condemning the actions of his supporters. “Before asking the demonstrators who had just entered the Capitol to calm down, he preferred to attack the vice-president on Twitter …”, he wrote.
Luke Skywalker ‘s star performer in the “Star Wars” saga, Mark Hamill, also expressed his opinion in a tweet. “The only other person who should be as proud of this chaos and anarchy as the outgoing President is Vladimir Putin”

The only other person enjoying this chaos & anarchy as much as our defeated president is Vladimir Putin.
Comedian Jim Carrey posted a cartoon of “Donald Trump’s corruption” on Twitter as visible below. As for the famous actor, Ashton Kutcher, he invited his fans to “support the peaceful transition of power” because “that’s it, to be a patriot”.
The world of music has also reacted strongly to the excesses that occurred on Wednesday. The images of this great violence have notably “broken the hearts” of singer Demi Lovato and that of Stevie Wonder.

My heart is broken. It makes me to sad to believe how naive I was to think this couldn’t possibly happen, and yet it did. Here we are. For everyone in my comments saying “where’s d7” or wanting me to sing instead of speaking up about what needs to change in this country… pic.twitter.com/md5XPFmj2B
“It makes me sad to believe how naïve I was to think that this couldn’t happen, and yet it did ”.

Anyone who voted for this tragic shitty narcissist mess of a president bears responsibility for this debacle today. He has shown you exactly who he was all along. You still supported him. You are complicit in the attempted destruction of the country. You are not a patriot.
The interpreter of “All of me”, John Legend, for his part denounced the cowardice of those who voted for the Republican candidate. “If you support it then you are complicit in the attempt to destroy our country. You are not patriots ”
As for Pink, she was mixed between anger, sadness and shame. “As a citizen of the United States, the daughter of two veterans and the sister of another, I am ashamed of what is happening in Washington. Hypocrisy, shame, embarrassment. It is a sad day for America ”, commented in turn the singer.
The singer Stevie Wonder too, seems upset by these events and calls for the 25th amendment of the Constitution of the United States. The latter allows the president to be replaced by the vice-president in the event of a vacancy in power.

It is time for the leaders of this country to invoke the 25th Amendment. Isn’t it obvious? Today has made me sad with disbelief with what is happening in my country, a country that has inspired my songs of hope and love.
