The Canton of Zurich is ceremonially saying goodbye to more than 2,000 military members from their compulsory military service

In the military field, the cantons are responsible both at the beginning of military service, at the day of induction, and at the end, when they are released from compulsory military service. In the canton of Zurich, discharge from the army includes a farewell as well as handing over the material. This will happen this week at the Zurich-Reppischtal cantonal military field.

From today, Monday, November 4, and until next Friday, November 8, around 30 tons of material can be found in Birmensdorf. The Zurich military administration coordinates this work with the Hinwil Army Logistics Center and thus guarantees a fast process. Divided into regions and regions, around 400 military members can be disarmed per day.

Director of Security Mario Fehr thanks the members of the army

After disarmament, the final muster in military form continues at lunchtime. In a ceremonial ceremony, members of the army are bid farewell to the army and compulsory military service.

At the start of this year’s release week with the regions of Winterthur and Zurich, Government Councilor Mario Fehr thanked the members of the army for their commitment: “The support that our army receives from the public is very rewarding for you.” The security director appealed to those present to continue engaging in society.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the layoffs will continue with the military members from the districts of Hinwil, Horgen and Dietikon as well as government advisor Ernst Stocker as speakers. By next Friday, more than 2,000 soldiers will be discharged from the army.
