‘ESSENTIAL’ OF VAIVÉN CIRCO
Vaivén Circo has taken the new Andalusian circus to all corners of the world and it is much more frequent to see it in the great international performing arts circuits than in our territory. ‘Vaivén’ is his fifth production and with it he has hung the entire poster in most of the performances carried out by the Spanish geography, in the midst of a pandemic.
Miguel Moreno ‘Bolo’ and Javier Parra direct this montage of changing and unpredictable scenery, with the collaboration of Jokin Oregui, 2018 National Theater Award for Children and Youth.
The family audience of Malaga can experience this Christmas the acrobatic and poetic game of the simplicity of ‘Esencial’. Five characters who play, who dream, an adventure journey that will take viewers to remote places where the vital decision will be to take the simplest path.
This new show is presented with a staging inspired by the Waldorf Rainbow, a toy made up of pillars and arches that create a spectacular scenery. On stage the largest arch measures 2.20 centimeters and the smallest 60 centimeters.
Its creators start from this changing architecture, capable of reinventing itself, to address the order-chaos binomial and use the tools they know best, dance, dramaturgy and circus techniques. A clean scene, with few elements, but that according to its manipulation are beautiful.
In this process they walk through the history of architecture, going from the cave to Modernism, from the Tower of Babel to Ancient Athens. From these elements, they look for poetic and powerful moments that create a magical atmosphere that aims to make the audience fly during the 55 minutes that the play lasts.
Vaivén Circo reaffirms in ‘Essential’ its concept of a new circus as a container for all the performing arts without distinction and united under a dramaturgy, a premise that has made this Andalusian company a European benchmark.
The artists Chema Martín, Irene de Paz, Raquel Pretel, Emilio López and Miguel Moreno ‘Bolo’ form the cast of the performances on December 27, 28, 29 and 30 at 6.30 pm at the Cánovas Theater.
