The Canary Islands add nine deaths and 971 COVID-19 infections in the last three days

Since last Tuesday, the Canary Islands have registered 971 new positives in COVID-19 among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is followed up after passing the acute phase of the pandemic, as explained by the Ministry of Health of the regional government following the new indicators included in the COVID-19 Surveillance and Control Strategy, agreed by the Ministry of Health with the autonomous communities.

The Islands have added a total of nine deaths in the last three days, of which six were reported in Tenerife and three in Gran Canaria. The deaths have corresponded to people aged between 77 and 96 years, all with previous pathologies and who were hospitalized.

The accumulated number of coronavirus cases among people over 60 years old in the Canary Islands amounts to 56,102 people. The Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 735.70 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days, at 358.96.

Currently, in the Archipelago there are 288 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 13 are in the ICU and the rest, 275, on the ward.
