The Canadiens will play their first game on August 1

It’s official. For a few minutes already, we no longer need to talk in the conditional to talk about the return to the game of the NHL since, as my colleague Marc-Olivier Cook reported, the players voted for a return to the game (and a contract extension of the collective agreement).

Unless there is a COVID-19 outbreak, players are sure to hit the ice this summer.

Among the changes that should be noted, be aware that the Canadian will be officially in the playoffs. It was argued that the playoffs included only the 16 teams that will be the typical “first round”, but this is no longer the case. The Canadian is therefore in the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

We will remember that this caused problems since the NHL no longer seemed to know how to qualify its playoffs. Now it’s done: Flannel is part of the dance … summer.

A guy like Max Domi, if he is eligible to play, can therefore say that he will have made the playoffs.

On another note, the Canadian received his schedule. Thus, we know that the duels will take place on August 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8.

Here is the complete schedule for the very first round.

Each team must play at least one two games in two nights, but the CH is not guaranteed to do so since those of the series against the Penguins are the optional games.

Prolongation

We also don’t know what time the matches will take place. The Canadiens will be able to play either at noon or 8 p.m., but should not be in action at 4 p.m. The matches are expected to be played as much as possible at 8 p.m., the Canadiens being popular.

At least that’s what is going around.
