The Canadian health regulator approves the ‘Pfizer’ and ‘BioNTech’ Covid-19 vaccines

The Canadian health regulator on Wednesday, December 9, approved the Covid-19 vaccine developed by the US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and the German company BioNTech.

The Health Canada regulator has posted a statement on its website that Pfizer and BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine has been approved.

Canada expects to receive up to 249,000 doses of the vaccine this month and four million doses by March.

The Canadian government has purchased 20 million doses of the vaccine and has the option to purchase another 56 million doses. A person needs two doses for vaccination.

Health Canada is currently considering three more potential vaccines.
