The Camcopter S-100, ready for ISR and ASW missions

The Austrian company cursor participated in the exercises last September REPUS y Dynamic messenger organized by I WILL TAKE in the peninsula of Troia and Sesimbra (Portugal). The Campcopter S-100 has demonstrated its well-known capability for ISR missions but also for cargo transport and submarine research.

During the REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping Using Unmanned Maritime Systems) and Dynamic Messenger exercises, various unmanned systems were tested in a NATO naval multinational environment. We were able to see several USVs, UUVs and UAVs operate firsthand like the S-100 from cursor.

Schiebel attended the hand exercises of the Royal Navy and next to Thales to demonstrate many of the S-100’s capabilities. The newest was the carrying out of exercises war against submarines (War against submarines or ASW) for which the UAV was equipped with an electro-optical sensor Wescam MX-8 and data transmission equipment Thales BlueScan. The device was able to coordinate with a previously deployed network of sound buoys, relaying information about possible submarines in the area to ground control posts.

Another of the exercises consisted of using the S-100 in the missions of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) e search and save at sea (SAR). To do this, it is equipped with electro-optical sensors. These sensors allowed the S-100 to automatically detect and identify small objects in the sea in different sea states. In addition, the S-100’s ability to transport supplies between land and a nearby ship was demonstrated. (Jos M Navarro Garca)
