The Cádiz Taxi Table for the modification of the ordinance
The Cádiz Taxi Table has held a meeting this week via telematics to promote the processing of the draft modification of the Municipal Ordinance Regulating the Taxi Service.
In this first round table the text was approached, agreed with the associations of Radio Taxi and Gades Taxi.
A text that includes measures demanded by the city’s taxi sector, such as the creation of the Taxi Table to manage various aspects.
It also collects specifications on adapted taxis and services for people with reduced mobility.
Measures are also detailed to transpose into the text the commitments acquired in the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, so that the city’s taxi fleet transitions to a less polluting technology in a phased manner.
It should be remembered that the Taxi Table is made up of agents from various sectors of the city, such as associations of merchants and hoteliers, ecologists, Facua, Agadi, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs, the University of Cádiz, municipal companies, etc., in addition to the taxi associations, the Government Team, the rest of the municipal groups and the non-attached councilor, Domingo Villero.
Contributions have been made to the draft by associations of animal owners, consumers and Agadi.
“With this modification of the Taxi Ordinance we are not only advancing the tasks before the imminent modification of the Andalusian Taxi Regulation, but we are including measures that were demands of the sector and of the users themselves.”
This was pointed out by the Councilor for Mobility, Martín Vila:
“Precisely, regarding the latter, we include in this proposal control measures to guarantee, effectively, that adapted vehicles fulfill the service that they must fulfill, which is none other than giving priority service to people with reduced mobility.”
The document also includes “measures to modernize the sector, such as the transition in the coming years to a less polluting and therefore more ecological fleet, as well as control measures for salaried workers to avoid unfair competition between the taxi and other aimed at improving the image of the sector ”.
New fleet reduction due to lack of demand
On the other hand, it should be remembered that the Cádiz City Council has approved this week a new weekly system of work shifts, after receiving a request from the taxi sector to carry out this modification.
Thus, until next May 9, a weekly activity system will be in force that will include four days of work and 48 hours of rest, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
