The caretaker government of Dimitar Glavchev adopted a decree to grant 184 million BGN for raising the rewards in higher public schools and scientific organizations.
The money was allocated through the budgets of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment and Water, Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova stated that the Higher Education Act adopted changes to increase the remuneration of the academic staff and the persons under Art. 53 of the Law on Higher Education in Higher Education Institutions. “BGN 184 million have been secured from the budget by restructuring costs. The analyzes were prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science, at the suggestion of the relevant budget managers – BAS, Agricultural Academy (SSA)NIHM, etc.,” said Petkova.
The Minister of Education, Galin Tsokov, added that thanks to these additional funds, the salaries of the lowest academic position – assistant – will be able to rise to BGN 2,516.
The increase will affect 20,000 workers in the higher education system – 13,600 academic staff and 3,600 workers who support scientific and technical, research and other activities.
