The somewhat unusual burglar, with the assigned name “Hank the Tank”, has received a lot of attention around the world.
The 226 kilo black bear has broken into nearly 30 homes in South Lake Tahoe, California, USA, and police had received over a hundred phone calls about him.
Five days after the local police shared one Facebook posts where they wrote that neither sirens, paintball, bean bags and teasers have helped in the fight to get the bear away from the neighborhood, they are now asking people to stop calling them.
– We knew this post would get attention, but we never thought it would get so much response from around the world! writes the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) in an update on Facebook.

There have been many opinions about what should happen to “Hank” to overcome the burglary problem.
Some have suggested that killing is the only solution, as the bear is an addictive animal that will keep coming back.
However, it has created reactions.
– Now we have to have a chat: Please stop calling the police to share their opinions about Hank, writes the Ministry of Police.
They must have received so many calls about the black bear, that it has exceeded the capacity for emergency calls.

The local game rescue service “BEAR League” is among those who are fighting for “Hank”‘s life. They hope he can fit in a suitable animal sanctuary.
