From the 15th to the 17th of March in Vilamoura, Portugal, the SB20-Downwind Team-Bulgaria will compete with 13 teams from 11 nationalities. The winners of the national BORA Sailing Championship in 2023 received a quota to represent our country and their club in the prestigious championship.
The Port Burgas Yacht Club crew consisting of Radoslav Raev, Samuel Karadzhiyan, Yosif Karadzhiyan and Yasen Kaczynski is training hard to face the teams of Austria, France, Finland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden and Great Britain.
Three teams from Germany were also registered for the international J70 yacht race, which withdrew at the last minute after air transport to and from their country was suspended due to strikes by ground staff at airports in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe.
In 2021, Bulgaria was represented at the Sailing Champions League in Germany by the OVK Nessebar 2000 team, which competed with 26 clubs from 15 nations.
In 2022, again in Germany, the crew of Yacht Club Port Varna/Yacht Club “Capt. Georgi Georgiev Port Varna”. Yacht Club “Port Bourgas” sent its team to Portugal in 2023.
