350 members of cooperatives integrated in Bureba Ebro have participated in the visits to the test fields developed by the entity in Quintanaloranco and Fuentebureba.
There have been two days in which the behavior of the different varieties and cycles of the cereal, “which highlights the importance of choosing well on the part of the farmer”, highlights Ignacio Santamaría, director of Bureba Ebro.
During the experience it has become clear the effectiveness of different herbicides, both broad-leaved and narrow-leaved.
It has also been possible to verify the effects of the different fertilization strategies, with different doses and with the use -in some cases- of inhibited nitrogens. “The objective is to help the farmer to comply with regulations on the supply of nitrogen that are becoming stricter every day,” highlights Santamaría.
Another crop visited has been the fodder pea, of which stand out the rusticity and adaptability of some varieties.
For the director, the objective was to transfer to the member the experience carried out with cereal varieties that will go to the catalog of the entity in the medium term, in addition to opening the range to alternative crops to cereal, many of which have shown a good ability to adapt to the area.
Ignacio Santamaría has taken advantage of the celebration of these conferences to thank the “implication” of the technicians and their “commitment” with the development of the municipalities that form the area of influence of Bureba Ebro.
