The Bureau of Immigration (BI) in the Philippines arrested a 61-year-old British national, Paul Stuart Leggot, for overstaying and allegedly being employed in Coron without a work permit. Leggot reportedly entered the Philippines in 2014 without obtaining visas for business purposes, yet he owns a popular resort in Coron. The BI stated that Leggot will be transferred to their detention facility in Bicutan after his booking and inquest procedures in Manila. The BI reminded foreign nationals that they must secure the appropriate visas and permits if they plan to work or have a business in the country. Failure to comply with the law deprives Filipinos of job opportunities and taxes the government.
