The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau issued a statement last night (8th) to reiterate that it supports the Hong Kong Federation of Hong Kong and the Olympic Committee to start the process of suspending the qualification of the Ice Ice Association, and requires the Ice Ice Association to explain the incident and improve the corporate governance plan.

A spokesman for the Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the government supports the decision of the Hong Kong Association of Hong Kong and requires the Ice Association to submit a comprehensive written explanation for the incident of broadcasting the wrong national anthem and propose improvement plans for corporate governance. The spokesperson pointed out that the government and the Hong Kong Association have the same goal, hoping to find out the cause of the error and improve the corporate governance of the Ice Association. Regardless of the final decision of the investigation, it will not affect the government funding for hockey players to train and play.

However, yesterday’s statement from the Ice Association requested a direct dialogue with director Yang Runxiong and Legislative Council member Huo Qigang, which was not explained in the government’s statement. The Ice Association also stated that any reduction in funding will affect athletes’ competition and training.
