Early game selection

The early selection of games enables long-term planning security for clubs, fans and the media. The selection will be made by the TV partner Sky in four phases, which will result for this year as follows:

  • Round 1 – 6 in June: With the draw for the basic round, all games are scheduled until the international break.
  • Round 7 – 18 in September: Once the group phases and participants have been determined, the selection will be made by Christmas.
  • Round 19 – 22 in December: The final four rounds in the basic round are selected after the last autumn round.
  • Round 23 – 32 in March: With the draw for the final round, all game dates will be announced.

Draw principles

In addition to the game plan, the Bundesliga gives a detailed insight into the draw procedure. As has been shown from experience and in various scientific contributions to the preparation of the game plan, draws for football leagues are influenced by a wide variety of factors. In the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, these framework conditions are primarily composed of the following requirements:

  • Stadium bans by the clubs or stadium operators (e.g. stadium renovations)
  • Official requirements (e.g. dispute between FAK and SCR)
  • Regional characteristics (two clubs in one stadium)
  • Safety aspects (e.g. ice hockey and soccer at the same time in one city)

In addition, the following principles are implemented to ensure a balanced and fair game plan:

  • No series of three (or more) home or away games
  • Minimum possible number of “home-away-home-away” series breakthroughs per club
  • All clubs have one home and one away game in rounds 1 & 2 as well as 21 & 22
  • All clubs have two home and two away games in rounds 19 to 22
