At the beginning of the 2000s, two Russian boys came to Vihti’s school in Ojakkala. A former schoolmate tells Iltalehte how the boys were victims of severe school bullying.
Neighbors of the family also told Iltalehte about a similar background and bullying.
Now one of the boys is suspected of killing his professor father and attempting to kill his mother.
The school friend interviewed by Iltalehti is a couple of years older than the killer, but remembers him well.
According to a school friend, the now 27-year-old boy learned the Finnish language quickly. The sweet and smiling boy was popular with girls. The school boys, on the other hand, did not like the newcomers.
– The bullying started almost immediately. It was really brutal.
The boys were teased, humiliated, barked at and provoked.
– For example, you were made fun of for liking Disney movies, a school friend recalls.
The situations often turned physical.

At the same time, disruptive behavior began. A schoolmate remembers how the boy was sometimes caught smoking and going outside the school grounds without permission.
– He became the bad guy, so to speak, and began to gain social capital. But in my understanding, the bullying still continued.
The change for the child who entered elementary school was big.
– It feels really sad.
Even the school friend does not feel that he is completely innocent. He also later had a fling with one of the brothers.

The events of elementary school came to the mind of a schoolmate when the Ojakkala bloodshed was reported in the media. Emeritus Professor Raimo Antero Kantola69, was killed and his wife injured when the couple’s 27-year-old son attacked them.
The situation led to a massive operation lasting several hours, at the end of which the police arrested the 27-year-old man.
He has admitted the act.
– I have thought about them many times during my life. The criminal case shocked me, but on the other hand, I could well believe that something like this could happen, says a school friend.
– Of course, this kind of background does not absolve him of responsibility, but he does wonder if he would have come to this if he had had a different childhood.

According to information from Iltalehti, the man suspected of the death has a large criminal background. Last Monday’s police operation is not the only time he has caused several patrol missions in Vihti.
In December 2019, the police planned to arrest the man for disorderly conduct. The man had left his home in a disheveled state – with a knife.
The man fled and several patrols were alerted to Vihti. After a two-hour chase, the police caught up with the man. After noticing the police around him, the man took a knife from his sleeve, backed away and ran away.
The police released the police dog. The man hit the dog in the back with a knife.
It wasn’t until a remote landing ended the resistance.
The following year, the man was placed under guardianship.
The man has also been charged with assaulting his mother a few years earlier. The prosecutor eventually dropped the charge and the matter remained as it was.
Court documents show that the man’s life management has been in a bad state. The court has dealt with several debt cases in which the man has been the defendant.
Now the police suspect the man of murder and attempted murder.
