A weapons expert tested the handgun used by MP Timo Vornasen in Vantaa.
Congressman Timo Vornanen (ps) fired a shot into the ground early a week ago on Friday morning in front of Bar Ihku in Helsinki.
The weapon used in the incident was a .6.35-caliber Czech-made pocket gun CZ 92. According to the police, Vornasen’s weapon was licensed.
Yesterday, Friday, Iltalehti visited the Ruutisavu shooting range in Vantaa, where the chairman of the Finnish Arms Historical Society Pasi Kesäniemi introduced the weapon used by Vornasen.
Kesäniemi had acquired exactly the same station model.
The test started with preparations.
A bundle of newspapers packed together was placed as the goal. The shooting distance was ten meters.
In addition to the CZ 92 pocket gun, the test included a 22-caliber miniature pistol as a control.

This is how it happened in the test
Kesäniemi Slipped the cartridges into the guns. Then it was time to shoot.
There were a couple of loud bangs, after which it was time to find out the results. Kesäniemi scrolled through page by page to see how far the bullets had dug in.
The bullet from the pocket gun used by Vornanen penetrated 31 newspapers, the thickness of which was placed horizontally about nine centimeters.
Correspondingly, the 22-caliber bullet burrowed a few leaves deeper, where it had broken into several parts.
A 6.35 Browning bullet fired with a CZ 92 rifle buried itself between the newspapers and remained there intact. Copper-nickel, brass and tompak are used as the sheath material of the bullet.

Kesäniemi describes the test as interesting. It was the first time he had used that station model.
Before the test, Kesäniemi had predicted that the result would be a tie.
– I don’t think the test result was surprising. The accuracy was pretty bad, but I hit it pretty well in the end.
“Not a toy”
According to Kesäniemi, the station model used by Vornas is a medium-sized pocket gun and is mainly suitable for self-defense. It is smaller than a mobile phone.
According to Kesäniemi, the gun model is rare, just like other new pocket guns these days.
– Actually, a pocket gun is a Finnish definition. It is not known in the world, he says.
– You can only get pocket guns in Finland for gun collecting or on a work basis.
The aim of the gun is a groove driven into the slide. The sight is therefore almost non-existent compared to other ordinary pistols.
– The accuracy is not very good because the gun has poor sights. You can aim with this from a maximum of 5–10 meters if you want to hit something.
The story continues after the pictures.

However, according to Kesäniemi, you can cause destruction with a gun if you want to.
– This is not a toy. The 6.35 bullet is indeed deadly if you shoot a person with it. Vornanen probably used the same bullets in his gun, he says.
Sad situation
Kesäniemi, who actively enjoys shooting, has been confused by the news about Vornase’s shooting incident.
– After all, the Weapons Act already says that a civilian must have grounds for carrying a weapon. For example, carrying a gun to a shooting range is such a basis.
– Yes, Vornanen has used bad judgment in that. And went to the bar to take a shit.
According to Kesäniemi, there are not many similar cases.
– These shouldn’t happen at all, and luckily there haven’t been any. Gun enthusiasts are a responsible bunch and don’t fool around.
