Today, there is hardly anything more banal than pointing out the low trust of Bulgarian citizens in the state. It affects all spheres of state life. Public opinion polls regularly paint us a picture in which the ratings of the main political institutions tend to the bottom, and the support for the activities of the National Assembly (in a parliamentary republic!) is often collected in single-digit percentage values. The massive and prevailing mistrust also casts a shadow on the Prosecutor’s Office, the court, the police, and the government.
Commentators hardly pay attention to this data because they rightly notice that there is no news. Indeed, it is not from yesterday. We have been observing the same thing for years and decades. Our personal “sociology” – friends and acquaintances, people we meet on the street – “report” such things to us.
