“Chaos” and “apocalypse” are how the Bulgarian medics from the VMA described the earthquake-stricken country

“Chaos” and “apocalypse” are how the Bulgarian medics from the Medical Academy of Medical Sciences described Turkey, who landed at Sofia airport this evening at 9:30 p.m., after helping the victims of the devastating earthquake in the last week.

“There is chaos in Turkey. Landing at the airport in the city of Adana, we found that the services were not prepared. They didn’t know rescue teams were coming. At one point, our team was the first international to land there. Subsequently, airplanes with rescuers from various countries and from all over Turkey began to land incessantly”, said Major Tsvetan Stanimirov about the first hours in the field.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to get people alive from the destroyed buildings,” he added.

Arriving in the city of Hatay, our medics are overwhelmed by the sight. “Subsequently we arrived in the city of Hatay, where we saw an apocalypse. The whole city was destroyed!”, said Major Stanimirov.

“Sorrow, tragedy, hope in the eyes of the people”, this is what senior Maria Borisova will remember. “It’s an incredible feeling. They are waiting to see what will happen to their loved ones. There were people from all parts of Turkey. They pray and hope to see their loved one”, she adds.

Starshina Borisova says that as a woman and mother she experienced the events in Turkey hard. “We were hoping to find someone alive to help. He will not forget the ruins and the bodies of women and children,” she added.
