Greenhouse growers will receive financial support of BGN 500,000 to fight against tomato pests for 2024, the Management Board of the State Fund for Agriculture decided at its meeting. The funds are provided under the scheme “Help to compensate the costs of farmers related to the implementation of measures under the “National program of measures to control tomato mining moth – Tuta absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera)“.
The aim of the aid is to limit production losses caused by the pest Tomato mining moth – Tuta absoluta on vegetable crops grown in greenhouses. The aid is provided in the form of compensating part of the costs of farmers growing tomatoes in greenhouses for the purchase of plant protection products and means to control and eradicate the tomato pest. The amount of the aid is up to 100% of the costs for the purchase and application of plant protection products authorized in the Republic of Bulgaria for the control of the Tomato mining moth – Tuta absoluta in tomato greenhouses, but not more than BGN 3,500/ha.
Compared to last year, the budget and the maximum rate are the same.
