The BSP will again propose that the working poor be exempted from tax –

/ world today news/ “It is clear that even during this session of the National Assembly, the policy of low incomes in the country will continue, which will increase inequality in favor of capital and at the expense of labor. And that’s why we from the BSP LEFT BULGARIA will propose again in the coming days, after claims of 1 and 2 billion over-execution, for a surplus of 200 million, that the working poor be exempted from tax.”

This was stated by the chairman of the BSP, Mihail Mikov, from the parliamentary rostrum. “That 10%, that 36 BGN that was taken from you this year, be given to them,” he added. Mikov explained that it is about 1 loaf of bread every day in the family of people working on the minimum wage. “We already have a remarkable stabilization, don’t we have surpluses, let’s unite on this issue and give back to the working poor what you took away with your hands in the fall when the budget was being drawn up,” he recalled.

The chairman of the BSP is categorical that the socialists will continue to insist on urgent measures in the fields of tourism and agriculture to compensate for the consequences of the sanctions against Russia and the imposed counter-sanctions, from which Bulgaria suffers the most severe consequences in the EU – consequences without compensation. “Without compensation for dairy farmers, for the tourism industry, for machine and industrial production, the markets for Russia that were closed and the last remnants of the Bulgarian electric car and forklift industry are already dying with this closure. The government and the ruling majority do not care. We will continue to ask these questions,” stressed Mikov.

According to the leader of the left, it is obvious the pushing of right-wing politics in health care, which makes it increasingly unaffordable. “The paid trade with human life and health is increasingly dominating. We will oppose categorically in this session, the proposals have been submitted and we will defend them in the second reading”, he also said. The chairman of the BSP is of the opinion that it will be the same in education. “I am asking Mrs. President not to hold extra meetings so that the media and citizens do not understand what is happening in the education committee. Let them hold their meetings in the National Assembly and let this next right-wing attempt to turn education into a commodity happen before the eyes of the Bulgarian citizens,” he added. According to him, BSP will have the same understanding when it defends the positions related to the protection of Bulgarian producers. “A position that we have consistently held, which we have proposed today and we will be happy to show together, and not just to claim that we are protecting Bulgarian producers”, specified Mikov and added: “We will continue to defend legislation limiting monopolies and the dominant position in the market , because it is daily, hourly killing the small and medium-sized Bulgarian entrepreneur”. Mikov has stated that the BSP will hold on to the submitted bills, which should protect citizens from abuse by the powerful in this regard – the private bailiffs and the banks. “And in the end, we think that BSP LEFT BULGARIA will continue to be a consistent opposition, but an opposition with another left-wing policy, necessary for Bulgaria and its development. Because the demographic crisis and the exit of the best Bulgarian citizens from the country will continue to lead to a dead end for Bulgaria under the leadership of this administration,” concluded Mihail Mikov.

Declaration of the PG of BSP LEFT BULGARIA

Presented by the chairman of BSP and PG of BSP LEFT BULGARIA

Mikhail Mikov

Happy new third session of this National Assembly, charged by the Bulgarian citizens with expectations for a better life. The last two sessions the most repeated word has been reform to the extent that people perceive the repetition of that word as belt-tightening, restraint payments, as layoffs, as unemployment. The previous speaker’s finding that a remarkable stabilization has been achieved in the economy is interesting. In fact, this was achieved as the forecast, on the basis of which the budget for 2015 was prepared, was significantly reduced – twice. Real GDP growth for 2014 is 1.7, and the forecast was reduced to 0.8 with the sole reason of freezing those 14 social payments that affect children, mothers, the elderly, disadvantaged people – all those who in the poorest EU country live the most -poor. And now, with an accounting trick in the updated spring forecast of the Ministry of Finance, the remarkable stabilization of the economy announced a while ago has been achieved. In fact, the remarkable stabilization of the economy is more or less like the international isolation of the previous government. It is absurd for an EU member country to be in international isolation. In fact, Bulgaria has quite serious problems in relations, including with the neighboring Balkan countries. On the one hand, the construction of the fence creates certain attitudes towards Turkey. On the other hand, the stories of today’s Prime Minister for years about Greece, the threats to the Bulgarians that Bulgaria would become as bad as in Greece, the relations regarding the introduced new tax put barriers between us and our neighbors here in the Balkans. What are our neighbors doing? They achieve alliances to change strategic infrastructure routes in South-Eastern Europe. And this was seen at the meeting in Budapest. There it was seen how Bulgaria is excluded from the conversation on this topic and how it is about to be excluded and, on the one hand, a traditional transit gas for its strategic position, to become a small consumer, because of its destroyed industry. It is also clear that the policy of low incomes in the country will continue during this session, which will increase inequality in favor of capital and at the expense of labor. And that is why we from the BSP LEFT BULGARIA will propose again in the coming days, after claims of 1 and 2 billion overruns, for a surplus of 200 million, that the working poor be exempted from tax. This 10%, this 36 BGN, which was taken from you this year, should be given to them. I say again that it is about 1 loaf of bread every day in the family of people who work on the minimum wage. We already have remarkable stabilization, don’t we, we have surpluses, let’s unite on this issue and give back to the working poor what you took lightly in the autumn when the budget was drawn up.

We will continue to insist on urgent measures in the fields of tourism and agriculture to compensate for the consequences of the sanctions against Russia and the imposed counter-sanctions, of which I dare say the most severe consequences in the EU are borne by Bulgaria – consequences without compensation. Without compensation for milk producers, without compensation for the tourism industry, without compensation for machine and industrial production, the markets for Russia that were closed and the last remnants of the Bulgarian electric car and forklift industry are already dying with this closure. The government and the ruling majority do not care. We will continue to ask these questions.

It is obvious that health care is being pushed to the right, making it increasingly unaffordable. Paid trade with human life and health dominates more and more. We will strongly oppose this session, the proposals have been tabled and we will defend them on second reading.

It will be the same in education. I am asking Madam President not to hold extra meetings so that the media and citizens do not understand what is happening in the education committee. Let them have their meetings in the National Assembly and let this next right-wing attempt to turn education into a commodity happen before the eyes of the Bulgarian citizens.

Dear Members of Parliament, we will have the same understanding when we defend the positions related to the protection of Bulgarian producers. A position that we have consistently held, which we have proposed today and we will be happy to show together, and not just claim that we are protecting Bulgarian producers. Especially now in the crisis, when we weakly feel European solidarity, as a compensation for the consequences surrounding the crisis in Ukraine. We will continue to defend legislation limiting monopolies and the dominant position in the market, because it kills small and medium-sized Bulgarian entrepreneurs on a daily, hourly basis.

Dear Members of Parliament, we will continue to defend the introduced bills, which should protect citizens from abuse by the powerful in this regard – the private bailiffs and the banks. And in the end, we think that BSP LEFT BULGARIA will continue to be a consistent opposition, but an opposition with another left-wing policy necessary for Bulgaria and its development. Because the demographic crisis and the exit of the best Bulgarian citizens from the country will continue to lead to a dead end for Bulgaria under the leadership of this administration. Of course, we are sure that this is the only alternative to today’s right-wing government, and the sooner the Bulgarian citizens understand it, the sooner Bulgaria will have another perspective for development.
