The BSP National Assembly has elected a new National Election Headquarters for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The new headquarters also attracted experts, and the staff was reduced to 8 people. Each member of staff will be responsible for a different department.
Christian Vigenin was elected chairman of the BSP’s election headquarters.

Dinko Zhelev will be responsible for “Party and organizational activities”; for “Analyzes, strategies, messages” – Teodor Slavev; for “Coalition Policy and Local Government” – Atanas Zafirov; for “International Activity” – Miroslava Gateva.
Ivan Chenchev will be responsible for the media and the pre-election advertising; for contact with the CEC – Vyara Emilova.
The “Youth Initiatives” department is entrusted to Gabriel Valkov, and the financial activity is for Alexander Neychev.
Each of the heads of departments in the election headquarters will work with teams of professionals, the statement said.
Before the meeting of the party’s National Council on the tasks before the BSP, Alexander Simov said that the party had not achieved the tasks set in the previous elections and something needed to change. According to Simov, there is no more realistic goal than victory and the BSP is able to achieve it.
According to Rumen Gechev, the BSP should change its approach to voters who do not understand what they are offering in their program. Our focus was on GERB, and it turned out that we have other competitors, he added.
They adopted an action plan
The BSP National Council adopted by a majority the report of President Cornelia Ninova on the current political situation and the upcoming tasks for the early elections, the party’s press office said.

The action plan aims to outline the measures for overcoming the admitted weaknesses and to give a direction for strengthening the influence of the BSP in the society in view of the forthcoming campaign.

The medium-term measures are aimed at internal consolidation of the party and active dialogue, as well as with coalition partners and other left-wing formations. The issues of organizational strengthening of the party, digitalization and new technologies that can be used were discussed.
The goal is for the BSP to be a strong, responsible and ideologically clear political formation, which sets high goals for the upcoming parliamentary elections – to be a party of stability, principle and consistency in politics, the press release said.
The National Council of the BSP has discussed and adopted by a majority all decisions on the proposed documents.
The National Election Headquarters was unanimously elected at the meeting, and the structure, staff and budget of the National Assembly of the BSP for 2021 were adopted.
Today was the first of three party meetings scheduled for the end of the month.
The BSP National Council will meet on May 22nd and May 30th, dedicated to important decisions for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
At the meeting on May 22, the National Council is expected to elect the new composition of the Executive Bureau and to appoint the leaders of the lists and seats for the coalition partners and the civic quota.
On the last scheduled date – May 30, the National Assembly of the BSP will convene to finally approve the lists for MPs. Then it will become clear whether the BSP leader Cornelia Ninova will lead lists in Plovdiv and in the capital. Castling in other district centers is also possible.
Founded a new trend in the BSP – Platform “Socialism XXI Century”
While the National Council of the BSP was meeting, the Socialists in the National Palace of Culture established a new ideological and political union, the Platform “Socialism XXI Century”. They adopted a manifesto stating that the BSP had made gross political mistakes and demanded a new election platform and new faces, BNR reported.
Among the founders are Georgi Pirinski, Valeri Zhablyanov, Georgi Bozhinov, Yuri Aslanov and Velislava Dareva, who said that after the failure of the parliamentary elections, party leader Cornelia Ninova was obliged to resign.
