All this due to an irresponsible fan who wanted to take a picture with her cardboard banner, but got in the way of the riders.
Half of the peloton has fallen and several cyclists have unpleasant injuries. This list also shows what a tough sport cycling can be.
Everyone is angry, even those who escaped unharmed. “I hope the old people are proud of you,” Jasper Stuyven wrote on Twitter. “It’s great that so many fans are encouraging us, but please stand by the way, not on the way!”
Even harder was the Dutch spearman Ceel Bol. “The French have devised an effective tool against undisciplined spectators – the guillotine.”
And Lance Armstrong, who called the fan an idiot in his Podcaste The Move, didn’t go crazy either.
