The brotherhoods begin to prepare for Holy Week in Granada in 2022 with their first acts | Radio Granada | BE Cofrade Granada

The confreres begin to prepare for Holy Week in Granada in 2022, after overcoming the worst of the covid, and they await in the coming days the decree of the archbishop that allows lifting the current suspension of worship in the street, something that is already allowed in the rest of Andalusian dioceses.

For now and in anticipation of a normal Easter, within the sanitary regulations that are in force within six months, the Granada brotherhoods have begun to prepare their processions.

For this they will celebrate in the next few days the acts of preparation of the crews of costaleros. They are the well-known ‘equal’, which this year have twice as many applicants as in each season, given the suppression of the last two penance stations, as explained to Radio Granada by the elder brother of El Trabajo, Ángel Aguilera, the first brotherhood to summon its bearers to this Sunday. The brotherhood of La Lanzada has also already summoned their “equal”.

The Granada brothers are looking forward to Easter. And this October 12 they have shown it in the Realejo neighborhood. Hundreds of people came to the Plaza de Santo Domingo to accompany the Archconfraternity of the Rosary. The brotherhood held a cloistered procession with the image of the co-patron of Granada preceded by that of Santo Domingo.

The image mariana went out to the square for a few minutes with the accompaniment of the Banda Ángeles de Granada (who performed the ‘Salve marinera’, followed by all) and the Band of the Despojado, who arrived playing the place before the enthusiasm of the attendees for being able to enjoy the brotherhood music live, in the streets of Granada after 18 months of harsh restrictions due to the pandemic.

The Archicofradía del Rosario celebrates every October 12 the procession with the co-patron of Granada through the streets of the city center. Although sanitary regulations already allow these celebrations, the Archdiocese of Granada still maintains the decree that prohibits processions.

It is expected that after the celebration of the acts in honor of the patron saint, the Virgen de las Angustias, and los del Rosario, the decree will be lifted and the procession of the Virgen de la Cabeza through the streets of the neighborhood can be held in the coming days. of the Magdalena. It has not been possible to celebrate in Moclín the procession of the Christ of the Cloth (on October 5) nor is that of the Virgin of Martyrdom celebrated this 14 in Ugíjar.
