The Brotherhood of Blood Donors of Ciudad Real has had a new van since Tuesday, financed by the Provincial Council, to continue exceeding the 200 annual collections in the different municipalities of the province and the more than 15,000 donations that are made each year.
The president of the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, Miguel Ángel Valverde; the provincial president of the Brotherhood of Blood Donors, Matilde Santiyán, and the coordinator of the Hemodonation and Hemotherapy Network of Castilla-La Mancha, Elena Madrigal, were in charge of presenting this new van.
The coordinator of the Castilla-La Mancha Blood Donation Network has highlighted the importance of having a “completely new and fully equipped” van, since 70% of the blood donations registered in Ciudad Real are made through the collections that the Brotherhood of Blood Donors carries out in the different towns of the province.
In this regard, he pointed out that it was “very necessary” to have a new van, given that more than 200 collections are carried out annually, with the van moving “almost every day”, according to Madrigal, to obtain more than 15,000 donations annually.
For her part, the president of the Brotherhood of Blood Donors of Ciudad Real has thanked the Provincial Council for its collaboration in financing “a fully equipped van” that meets “all the requirements” to provide an adequate service.
Santiyán recalled that the previous van did not have air conditioning, which made it particularly difficult to make donations during the summer months.
“Thanks to this new acquisition, the Brotherhood of Donors will be able to provide this service in the best possible conditions,” said its president.
Finally, the President of the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real has shown the support and collaboration of the institution with the Brotherhood of Blood Donors for the “fundamental work” that they carry out on a daily basis to guarantee “the proper functioning of the health system in Castilla-La Mancha.”
He also encouraged the population of the province of Ciudad Real to donate blood in the different collections that the Brotherhood carries out throughout the year in the different municipalities spread throughout the province.
