BRUSSELS (Aftenposten): Denmark and Great Britain will “outsource” their asylum centres. Now the British have been given the go-ahead by the court.
A tiny boat filled to the brim with migrants was due to cross the English Channel in early December. Halfway between France and Great Britain the boat capsized. The migrants ended up in the icy water. Four died.
A record number have embarked on the arduous journey this year. On Christmas Day at the latest, 90 people crossed the canal in small boats. So far, more than 45,000 have crossed the English Channel. The British Home Secretary wants to put an end to this. Suella Braverman wants to send migrants directly to Rwanda. The plan is supposed to act as a deterrent, so fewer people come to the UK.
But the plan had teething problems. The first migrant flight to Rwanda was halted in June. The plan was then sent for consideration by a British court.
Now the court has concluded. The state is allowed to send asylum seekers to Rwanda.
