The British summoned the Russian ambassador to London due to Navalny’s poisoning

“It is completely unacceptable for a banned chemical weapon to be used. Russia must conduct a full and transparent investigation,” Raab said.

The head of British diplomacy added that he was relieved to hear Monday’s information that Navalny was awakened from an artificial coma. “I hope that his condition will continue to improve,” Raab added.

Forty-four-year-old Navalny was hospitalized on August 20 after feeling ill during a flight from Siberian Tomsk to Moscow. The plane had to make an emergency landing in Omsk, and Navalny was taken unconscious to a hospital there.

According to the Navalny spokesman, he was probably poisoned by a substance mixed into tea. Doctors from Omsk Hospital said they found no traces of poison in his body.

The Germans offered to take care of the leader of the Russian opposition at the Charité Hospital in Berlin, and took him into care, even though Russia did not want to. After the tests, they announced that the Russian opposition was poisoned by a poison from a group of newcomers, which got into his body through the skin.

Navalny is one of the most prominent figures in the Russian opposition and has been imprisoned several times in the past. The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in 2018 concluded that the repeated detention of Navalny by the Russian authorities between 2012 and 2014 was politically motivated.
