The British Minister of Health Matt Hancock, a key figure in the government’s actions against the pandemic, announced today that he is resigning for non-compliance with sanitary rules against the coronavirus, world agencies reported.

Hancock apologized yesterday after the Sun showed footage showing him kissing and hugging his co-worker in his office, at a time when close contact with another person outside the household was still considered a violation of the rules, BTA reported.

In his resignation letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the minister stressed that the government must treat people who sacrificed so much during this pandemic fairly.

“You should leave your post very proud of what you have accomplished, not only with your actions against the pandemic, but also before the advent of KOVID-19,” Johnson said, regretting his resignation from the government.

“The last thing I want is for my personal life to distract from the sole purpose of bringing us out of the crisis,” Hancock said in his resignation letter.
