London (United Kingdom), Oct 24 (EFE).- An exhibition at the British Library, the British national library, gives voice to women of the Middle Ages “who were erased from history” in order to rescue their role in oblivion. the different social spheres during a time dominated by male narrative. ‘Medieval Women: In Their Own Words’ will open to the public from this Friday until March 2 to present, through a hundred artifacts, testimonies and experiences of these women in Europe since the 12th century to the 16th century through different cultures, religions and their social position. TRANSLATION: “We know that these women were often eradicated, erased from history, but the exhibition shows that they often performed tasks that were very similar to those that men performed in the past. Some were military leaders, others were authors. .” “It is a challenge to decide which stories to include and which women to leave out. What we have done is to include women from different areas, there are queens and nuns, but also women from other areas of life, there are pregnant women, stories of poets. …”
