In our country there are currently no concrete plans for a third corona pepper. “We certainly cannot anticipate this right now,” says vaccinologist and member of the vaccination task force Pierre Van Damme. “Studies need to be set up first to demonstrate safety and efficacy. They will also need to be approved before these vaccines can be used as an additional or third dose in Europe.”
“That third dose is one possible strategy to combat variants, but it remains a hypothesis,” says Professor Jean-Michel Dogné of the University of Namur. “We don’t even know yet whether, to what extent and for how long such a third dose will provide protection.”
