Czech tennis player, was number one in the world ranking, reached the Grand Slam final in London, thanks to which she won as much as 1,300 points in the WTA ranking. Until now, she was in the 15th place, but such a considerable number of points gave her the opportunity to move to the fifth place in the race to participate in the WTA Finals. High position of Iga Świątek in the ranking
The leader of the ranking probably occupies the first place WTA Ashleigh Barty. Thanks to the victory over Pliskova in the Wimbledon final, the Australian has 5,381 points and is ahead of the second Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus by 1,853 points.
The third place in the ranking is taken by the winner of this year’s edition Roland Garros Barbora Krejcikova with the achievements of 3 498 points. It is placed just behind the podium Iga Świątek. At the moment, the Pole has 2,680 points and is ahead of the fifth in the ranking Karolina Pliskova by 73 points.
The fate of the WTA Finals is at stake
If the WTA Finals were held now, Naomi Osaka, Garbine Muguruza and Anastasia Pavlyukhenkov would also be on the line. So far, however, it is not known whether the event ending the season will take place at all. WTA authorities are considering its organization. Last year, it did not happen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
