In 2020, OnePlus created a surprise by announcing the OnePlus North, a new mid-range oriented smartphone. Offered at the starting price of 399 euros, the smartphone stands out thanks to its Warp Charge 30T fast charging. This ultra-efficient technology saves 70% of the battery in 30 minutes of recharging.
After the enthusiasm generated by the OnePlus North, the Chinese brand is quite logically preparing to launch a second edition. Citing “Information from reliable insider sources”, Android Central says that the next smartphone in the OnePlus North range will be called simply …OnePlus Nord 2.

Launch in the second half of 2021 for the OnePlus Nord 2
According to media information, the OnePlus Nord 2 will be powered by the puce Dimensity 1200 by MediaTek. Recently announced, the chipset is engraved in 6nm. A direct rival to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, the SoC is equipped with a Cortex-A78 core clocked at 3.0 GHz, associated with three Cortex-A78 cores with a clock frequency of 2.6 GHz. The chip supports photo sensors up to 200 megapixels and 4K HDR at 60 frames per second. Unsurprisingly, it is compatible with 5G.
OnePlus would therefore have decided to ignore Qualcomm, the brand’s partner of choice. Last year, the Chinese firm had yet equipped the OnePlus Nord with a Snapdragon 765G chip, the mid-range chipset equipped for gaming from Qualcomm. On this side, the Dimensity 1200 promises to be a great evolution.
Still according to Android Central, OnePlus intends to present the OnePlus Nord 2 in the second half of 2021. In 2020, the manufacturer waited until July to announce the OnePlus North.
