The very young victim was called Angèle. Aged 6 and a half, the child died Thursday in Loscouët-sur-Meu (Côtes d’Armor)
after being accidentally killed not her brother, 9 and a half years old.
According to the public prosecutor of Saint-Brieuc, the young boy “handled the air rifle belonging to his father without his father’s presence”. According to the first elements of the investigation, “his sister was unexpectedly passed in front of him while he was practicing shooting objects.” Fired at a short distance, the small caliber lead reached the girl in the chest, crossing the heart and a lung and causing internal bleeding and very rapid death.
Educational follow-up for the boy
The young boy was heard by the gendarmerie in a pediatric reception unit at Yves Le Foll Hospital in Saint-Brieuc. He was cared for by a clinical psychologist and should be taken in by his grandmother. “The young shooter because of his age, cannot incur a criminal sanction but after evaluation, is subject to educational follow-up measures”, concludes the prosecutor.
