The boum comic festival in Blois is reinventing itself

The festivals die hard in times of corona but redouble their imagination, while the Angoulême Festival and the Book Fair are canceled and postponed, Lyon BD extends over four months and now BD BOUM is expanding geographically . The city of Blois with its comic strip house, like Angoulême, is well known to comics fans! For the occasion, the whole city is getting ready, this year the Denis-Papin staircase is in Mickey’s colors, made by Régis Loisel, one of the sponsors of “BD 2020”.

Since its creation in 1984, the festival has welcomed many visitors, authors and exhibitors for three days and also awards seven prizes, (see the nominees 2020), last year it is Emile Bravo, author the Spirou, Hope despite everything (Dupuis) who won the Grand-Boom which rewards an author for all of his work. A meeting with the artist is planned in partnership with HistoriaBD during this 2020 edition around a “historical café” in the company of the historian Sébastien Albertelli and also an exhibition around his work “Science and conscience, the worlds of Émile Bravo”. The Jacques Lob Prize for screenplay was awarded to Zidrou, who recently impressed us with the incredible adaptation of Marsupilami, The beast.

Around the festival, 12 exhibitions, meetings, concerts and cinema screenings (Josep, Hub at your fingertips, etc) are scheduled throughout the weekend. For example, find an exhibition devoted to “Revolution” of Younn Locard and Florent Grouazel which won the Château de Cheverny prize for historical comics in 2019, before winning the Fauve d’Or in Angoulême a few months later. But also “French-speaking African comics”, too little recognized and a youth exhibition “Ariol celebrates its 20 years” ofEmmanuel Guibert who will be present on Sunday, Grand Boom 2010, the first comic book author to be exhibited at the Beaux Arts and Marc Boutavant and many others : the full program on the official website.

From November 9 to 20, you can participate in hands-on workshops, attend performances and meet authors! The professional day is maintained with the theme: “Do comics take care of you?” “

We hope that the measures taken to respect the government instructions on social distancing will always be sufficient to not miss any of this rich 2020 programming!
