Celtics vs. Knicks: Jayson Tatum with an outstanding performance
The first possession was like a commercial: Tatum took a dribble and sank the first three-pointer after just eleven seconds. By halftime, the ball went through the basket from the outside 16 more times – out of 32 attempts. With six three-pointers, Tatum played a big role in setting the franchise record for three-pointers in a half.
And the 26-year-old’s performance spoke volumes in other ways: Tatum was clearly planning to open the season with a statement after his personally disappointing Olympic experience. In addition to his impressive rate from downtown (8/11), he also impressed with his drive to the basket and his eye for his teammates (10 assists), which he himself sank almost every shot, especially Derrick White (24 points, 6/10 three-pointers) and Finals MVP Jaylen Brown (23, 5/9 3FG).
