At the origin ofpainting company The Color Merchant at Villaines-la-Juhel, Denis Churin a pris sa retirement. He left the keys to three of his employees who now ensure the co-management.
How long Denis Churin traveled from the drugstore in the city center taken over in May 1986 until his retirement on 1is January 2022!
Its success was materialized by the showroom on boulevard Henri Dunant where eight employees and four apprentices are at the service of customers in the field of interior fittings.
Transmission Advocate
After a serious hand accident 4 years ago, Denis Churin, then 58 years old, considered retiring and wanted to leave the company he founded:
The employees were aware of my search for a buyer. It was following a withdrawal from one of them that Céline Taupin, who has been in charge of relations with customers and suppliers for 11 years, thought of an internal takeover. But not alone, she said.
This idea gradually made its way and two other employees followed: Fabrice Lebreton, salesman, 16 years of seniority and Vincent Lemaile, site manager, for 6 years in the company.
An idea that immediately pleased Denis Churin, a great defender of transmission, who trained 64 apprentices.
I have confidence in them because they know each other, they will be able to maintain the entrepreneurial spirit that is close to my heart. I also offered to all the employees to take shares if they so wished.
Lighting sector
It is therefore a co-management of three employees who is now at the head of Le Marchand de couleurs. Specialist in the decoration and refitting of the house from floor to ceiling, the company also offers exterior insulation.
The move from the city center to Boulevard Henri Dunant has changed the clientele, which is currently younger. The average basket has increased and then there is the reputation of the company. We know his seriousness. We want at all costs to keep the Churin spirit even if we also have to reinvent ourselves. Our clientele is made up of 95% individuals, the remaining 5% are shared between companies and businesses.
With 250m2 of showroom, seven vehicles and a large selection of high-quality materials, Denis Churin’s color merchant has a bright future ahead of it.
We want to develop the sector of lighting and green walls which are currently very popular. We are also working on a 3D plan presentation for customers. We also thank the rest of the team with whom we work.
For his part, Denis Churin spends time in the company from time to time. But now, he devotes himself to his wife Michelle, also recently retired, as well as to his work as a teacher in the painting section of Greta two days a month.
