In a recent interview with Handelsblatt, BMW CEO Oliver Tsipse was asked about his opinion of Tesla. He did not hesitate to say it and even to seriously criticize the brand and its models from the recent past.
He said he thought Tesla was not part of the premium brands. In addition, he said that the American brand is developing seriously, by reducing prices, which is something that BMW does not do. Zipse referred to the fact that BMW cares about quality and reliability and both companies have different aspirations for how to satisfy their customers.
Although BMW does not consider Tesla a premium brand, the United States definitely thinks differently, and according to statistics from the beginning of the year, Musk’s people have sold more cars from Mercedes and have moved them from third place to the best-selling luxury brands in America. However, BMW remains ahead with about 15 thousand more sales.
