The request can be made by the person in charge himself, or the occupational physician can take the initiative to inform the company, the vaccination task force said on Saturday during its weekly update. Only companies with more than 50 workers were selected in order to maintain the anonymity of the workers. Any result between 20 and 95% will be communicated accurately, while lower or higher results will only be conveyed through an estimate. And this to avoid, in particular, any cocorico of a company having reached 100% for example. The task force also insists on the fact that a “high vaccination rate can in no way mean that the preventive measures relating to Covid-19 (barrier gestures …) should no longer be applied”.
The objective of this initiative is to raise awareness among companies with low vaccination coverage.
The taskforce also returned to the third dose of the vaccine against the coronavirus. This has already been administered to 25% of the immunocompromised population in Belgium aged at least 12 years. People over 65 will also receive a booster shot at least four months after the last dose of AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson and at least 6 months after the two doses of Moderna or Pfizer.
There is currently no question of administering this third dose to the rest of the population, but we must “never say never”, concedes Jean-Michel Dogne (UNamur), member of the task force. “We have less information on the loss of immunity in the population under the age of 65, since this fringe was vaccinated later than the elders,” he notes.
The task force ensures in any case that Belgium will have enough vaccines to administer this third dose.
Vaccination coverage of health care personnel reached 88.5%. That of young people aged 12 to 17 still shows strong disparities according to the regions: 26% in Brussels, 57% in Wallonia and 80% in Flanders
