THE BOSQUE DE ESPERANZA FESTIVAL CONTINUES ACTIVITIES

Metepec, State of Mexico, November 12, 2022.-

dn last November 8, the Public Library of the Centenary of the Revolution, administered by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, hosted the Forest of Hope Festival, through which the collective Darciendo el planeta makes known the global environmental problems we are going through.

Proof of this was the speech “Insects and climate change”, held by Karina Cuevas, through which she explained the main causes of environmental pollution, its impact on the climate, as well as the way it affects insects.

He also underlined the importance of these little beings on the planet and took the opportunity to explain that these invertebrates are the main pollinators of many fruits that most of the population consumes.

He also said that without this type of animal, there is no life, as they help decompose waste matter and contribute to organic health. The public was interested and contributed some of his experiences with insects; There were also those who asked questions, to which Karina answered.

Finally, he invited them to help improve the environment, by carrying out actions such as water care, separate collection and reuse of everything possible.

Afterwards, the biologist Adriana Miranda also presented herself with the Aromatic Plants laboratory, where she showed the participants an example of how compost is made, explaining why this activity is important.

He used a paper roll as a biodegradable pot, potting soil and a selection of different plants, such as rosemary, epazote, lemon verbena, lemon balm, mint and pennyroyal, and explained how to start building a garden with plants that can be used for cooking, or, to make medicinal tea. She also gave some tips for their maintenance and said that it is not necessary to spend a lot of time on them, as the care is not very demanding.
