“The situation at the Latvian border with Belarus is very specific, because we see that Belarus is instrumentalizing migrants and literally pushing them across the border. This is completely unacceptable, ”emphasizes von der Leiena.

“It simply came to our notice then we consider it a hybrid invasion of Latvia and therefore to the European Union. The external border is not only the border of Latvia, it is also the border of Europe, so we immediately went to the rescue. And you can count on continued support in this matter. ”

But most importantly, in the European Union as a whole, we are moving forward with our Pact on Migration and Asylum. CONTEXT:

In the summer of 2021 the number of migrants has increased significantly, which is trying to enter the territory of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland from Belarus. Most migrants have come from Iraq.

Lithuanian officials pointed out that the Belarusian authorities deliberately does not constitute an obstacle to the crossing of the borderto punish Lithuania for supporting the Belarusian opposition and imposing sanctions on the Alexander Lukashenko regime.
