The book “Mirror Portrait of a Witness” by Juris Pavītols, the founder of “Livu”, has been published / Article

The opening ceremony of the book “Mirror Portrait of a Witness” took place at the Liepaja Embassy in Riga. The idea to write the book was inspired by the musicians’ 50th anniversary since the band’s first concert. As the author admits – the book is a compilation of good and not very good events.

“The idea was to write a book about those times and maybe about those times through my vision. But not as a version, but as a witness who has participated. I wrote about living people as we are now. At the moment,” says the author. “I also allowed myself to record how I became who I am. And if I know how I become who I am, my story will be more understandable to readers.”

The book is complemented by a rich range of photographs from both the Pavītols family archives and the 50-year concert life of the band Līvi. Most of the events described in the book are related to what was experienced in Soviet times.

At the end of May, it is planned to supplement what is written in the book by releasing songs written by Juris Pavītols in the 1970s that have not been played anywhere before.
