A subsidiary relationship that inspired him
Sunday at the town hall, Mathieu Klein, the mayor of Nancy, welcomed the media jury, who presented the book to the public present. “I am very happy for myself but also my parents, and my father in particular who cuts the articles in L’Est Républicain. Often it was to give me news of my friends who had succeeded, now it’s my turn, ”explains the author, with the tenderness and humor of a son.
He drew on his filial relationship to flesh out his novel. Among the best books of the new school year, “What is necessary at night” is a wonderful love story, a novel of the unsaid, the irreparable, the disappointment, the degraded transmission of values. A novel of failure, tragic and dark, poignant but ultimately not that desperate.
