“The Bond Market in Jakarta: A Profitable Investment Option According to Head of Deposit & Wealth Management, UOB Indonesia Vera Margaret”

What investments are currently recommended and will be profitable? Head of Deposit & Wealth Management, UOB Indonesia Vera Margaret said in the short term, the bond market is very attractive today because interest rates are currently high.

Going forward, according to him, the possibility will remain high because the Central Banks of the United States (US) and Indonesia are predicted not to raise interest rates.

“In the short term, we are more balancing. One opportunity in the bond market is high because everyone sees it’s peak, no one sees the possibility of the Fed still rising again, the rupiah is likely to rise one more. The concept is either flat or down,” said Vera in UOB Indonesia discussion agenda, at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (24/5/2023).

According to him, with the current conditions, the benefits of investing in the bond market will be profitable. So he recommends now is a good time to buy bonds.

“So opportunity is still high in the bond market, so if we look at the price of opportunity it means that it will only go up and not go down, more or less. So to invest in bonds, it is most appropriate that the price is already peaking,” he explained.

“If interest rates have a chance to rise later, they will go up, but if they go down, they won’t go down. When asked about short terms, the opportunity is in bonds,” he added.
