Earlier this week Harry Maguire, 29, was subjected to a bomb threat. According to British media, the Manchester United captain must have received the threat via an email, after which police and bomb dogs must have been sent to his home in Cheshire.
The Mirror is now reporting on the content of the threat. According to the newspaper, it must have said that “bombs will detonate” at Maguire’s home if he does not end up as team captain at Manchester United.
On Friday, interim coach Ralf Rangnick held a press conference and was then asked questions about the incident.
“This is another sign of the crazy world we live in,” Rangnick was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
– Of course I’m very sorry for Harry’s sake who has had to go through this terrible experience, but he knows that we are all behind him – the club, the players, his teammates.
The Mirror further writes that the bomb dogs that searched Harry Maguire’s home did not find any objects. No suspected perpetrator should be arrested.
Despite what happened, the United captain will have no plans to leave the club. Maguire himself is set to lead the team in Saturday’s meeting with Arsenal in the Premier League, the newspaper claims.
