The match between Bologna and Milan, which should have been played on Saturday 26 October at the Dall’Ara stadium in Bologna, could be postponed. In the afternoon the mayor Matteo Lepore had arranged for the postponement of the match with an ordinance, and the Municipality of Bologna had given notice of the postponement taking it for granted. The Lega Calcio Serie A, however, maintains that the ordinance was an autonomous initiative that the mayor took without consulting the prefect, and that the decision instead lies with the prefect. The League is also pushing for the match to be played anyway, proposing to do so on a neutral pitch or behind closed doors, arguing that it would be difficult to recover it in the future for calendar reasons. The final decision will be made on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, the Civil Protection has spread in Emilia-Romagna a new orange alert: the mayor of Bologna Matteo Lepore has ordered the closure of schools for Friday.
Large areas of the center and suburbs of Bologna are still managing the damage caused by the violent floods in Emilia-Romagna last weekend. If held behind open doors, the match between Bologna and Milan would bring around 35 thousand spectators to the stadium – which is in Via Andrea Costa, one of the most affected areas of the city. It would also require the closure of traffic, interfering, according to the Municipality, with the mud removal operations and, in general, the restoration of normality in that area of the city.
