The police of the city of Hialeah, in Miami-Dade County, found the lifeless bodies of an adult and a child during the afternoon of Thursday, May 2, in an apartment located at 7225 West and 11 Court .
According to authorities, an emergency call was received reporting the presence of two bodies inside an apartment in the Lake House Apartments residential complex, so officers went to the scene.
Once there, the police confirmed the presence of two bodies, a man between 30 and 40 years old and a child.
According to the media Telemundo 51Hialeah police spokesman Lt. Eddie Rodriguez said the case was being treated as a gun-related incident, and that detectives were on the scene collecting evidence.
The police questioned local residents and the minor’s mother to determine the relationship she had with the deceased adult. The woman would have been the one who found the bodies and called the police.
Preliminarily, it has been said that the adult may have shot the minor and then killed himself with the same weapon; however, investigations continue.
Rodríguez did not reveal further details of the case, but noted that police were gathering footage from neighbors’ security cameras in an attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events.
For now, the motives behind the incident are unknown, but authorities indicate that more information will be released as the case progresses and investigations shed some light on what happened.
Finally, the official stressed how worrying the case was, especially due to the minor who lost his life. Likewise, he sent his condolences to the affected family.
One of the residents of the place, identified as Bárbara Sánchez, told the aforementioned media that the situation had generated nerves among the residents of the area.
“I feel a little nervous because these are always things that make you sad and you are shocked by the screams and imagine what is happening.”
