Their loved ones’ wait could be coming to an end. Two bodies were found on the island of Portugal, announced the public prosecutor of Montauban in a press release this Friday April 5. “It appears that indeed yesterday [jeudi 4 avril, NDLR] The body of a woman was discovered on a path in the municipality of São Vicente in Madeira. In addition, following further research, the corpse of a man was also discovered today,” said Bruno Sauvage.

Investigations are underway to identify the bodies. “It is therefore impossible to indicate with certainty that it is the couple”, specifies the prosecutor in his press release. “For the moment, all hypotheses are favored,” he assures The Dispatch.

Reported missing after a walk

According to The Parisian, it was a British national who discovered the first body at the end of the day Thursday, near the house rented by the family before their disappearance. The second remains were located in the same area.

READ ALSO In France, the disappearance of a child is reported every 12 minutesLaurent Blond, 58, and Véronique Blond, 56, had gone on vacation to the volcanic island of Madeira with one of their daughters, Johanna. The couple, originally from Beaumont-de-Lomagne, have not given any sign of life since March 16.

They never returned from a short hike, towards São Vicente, in the north of the island where they had left in the afternoon. It was their 27-year-old daughter who, not seeing them return even though they had only left with two bottles of water, raised the alarm the same day.

An investigation had been opened in Madeira, and in France, for a worrying disappearance.
