The event took place on the weir of the river Otava in Štěkno in the Strakonice region. One woman managed to swim out, but the other remained trapped in the water. “The boat was pulled out of the river by boaters,” said police spokesman Milan Bajcura.
They started resuscitation immediately. Upon arrival at the place, paramedics also continued. “Circulation was resumed after some time,” added rescue spokeswoman Zuzana Fajtlová.
The woman, who was in serious condition, was transported by paramedics to the ARO hospital in Písek. Police warn that people should be very careful when driving down rivers.
